Fantasy Lanes Bowling
Inside the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino complex in Indio, Fantasy Lanes is a full bowling alley with pay-by-the-hour lanes, a small arcade, and food and drinks served right at the lane. Good rainy-day or evening backup if the group needs something low-key, and surprisingly fun with kids in the mix. About 10 minutes from most of our Indio properties. Call ahead on league nights since lanes fill up.
Eldorado Polo Club
Eldorado Polo Club has been running matches in the Coachella Valley since 1957 and is one of the largest polo venues in the country. Sunday matches between January and April are open to the public and free or low-cost to attend, with tailgating on the field line and bar service. It's a uniquely desert thing to do in the winter months. Lazy River Resort sits directly across the street from the polo grounds, so guests at that property can essentially walk over.
Desert Theatreworks
Desert Theatreworks is a community theater company that runs an October-through-spring season of musicals, dramas, and comedies at the Indio Performing Arts Center on Fargo Street. Recent seasons have included Jersey Boys, The Cher Show, and Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Tickets are reasonable, the productions punch well above the community-theater label, and it's a genuine local night out away from the resort scene. About 5 minutes from our Indio properties.
Big Rock Golf & Pub
Big Rock at Indian Springs combines an 18-hole public golf course with a rock-and-roll-themed pub on the same property in Indio. The course is a John Gurley Sr. design at 6,794 yards with views of the Santa Rosas. The pub side is open daily from 11am with 27 TVs, scratch-made American comfort food, happy hour from 3 to 6pm, endless mimosa brunch on Sundays, and live music on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. Roughly 5 minutes from our Indio properties.
The Lights at Indio Golf Course
The only night-lighted golf course in the Coachella Valley, perfect for an evening 9 holes when daytime temperatures are too high. It's a par-3 course, so play moves quickly and even beginners can finish a round in under two hours. Full-length driving range, short-game practice area, and a stocked golf shop on site. About 5 minutes from our Indio properties.
Acrisure Arena
Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert is home to the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Seattle Kraken. When hockey season is over, the arena hosts major touring concerts and events — recent acts have included Eric Church, Stevie Nicks, John Mayer, and Bad Bunny. There's also an adjoining community ice skating facility that's open year-round. About 20 minutes from our Indio properties. Worth checking the schedule against your travel dates.
